The royal hill of Ambohimanga is a vestige of a royal city between the 15th and 19th centuries. This sacred city was also the religious capital of the kingdom. It contains numerous sacred sites and tombs, as well as a royal burial ground : a living memory of traditional religion. The blend of Malagasy and European architectural styles bears witness to Madagascar's history. Its geographical position offers the best view of the city.
