A barbecue picnic at the Namaza campsite inside Isalo National Park feels like a scene straight out of an adventure novel. After hiking through sun-soaked plateaus, you arrive at a shaded clearing beside a small waterfall where your lunch awaits. Here, guides often serve freshly grilled zebu skewers, roasted vegetables, and local fruits at picnic tables surrounded by curious lemurs.

Within the southwestern Ihorombe region, this national park is known for its varied and unique terrain. Centuries of wind and rain erosion have whittled the landscape of Isalo National Park into a series of deep gorges, vast canyons and bizarrely shaped sandstone rock formations, punctuated by palm-lined oases and sprawling grasslands.
