Experience the wonder of South Africa. From vibrant cities to pristine natural landscapes – discover the highlights of this impressive continent in one compact trip.
The climate in South Africa varies greatly depending on the destination, making it a great travel destination all year round!
During the winter months (June to August), it can rain in the Western Cape (Cape Town, Garden Route). In contrast, the eastern part of the country (Kruger, KwaZulu-Natal) is dry. During the summer (November to February), it is generally dry in the Western Cape, while the eastern part of the country experiences its rainy season.
Let's get a simple overview.

Generally, it's always advisable to dress in layers, whether in summer or winter. The African sun is very strong, so you should use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and wear a hat. It's also recommended to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Please note that these are general guidelines and that the weather and climate may vary during your actual trip.

You do not need a visa to enter South Africa if you are traveling with a German, Austrian, Luxembourgish, Belgian, Swiss, French, or Dutch passport. For all other passports, we advise you to check with your embassy to see if you need a visa, as certain holders of European passports (e.g., Romanian, Bulgarian) must apply for a visa before entering the country. If your trip includes a visit to eSwatini, make sure you apply for a South African double-entry visa, as you will need to re-enter the country.
Also make sure that your passport is valid for at least 6 more months and has enough blank pages.
Proof of vaccination or negative PCR tests are no longer required at the ports of entry.
Please note that entry requirements can change at any time. Therefore, always check the requirements for your destination on the website of the Federal Foreign Office .
